Tom Reed, CMCA
Chief Financial Officer
Tom Reed joins Goodman Management Group as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 30 years of business experience in the public and private sectors.
Since 2019, as Director of Real Estate for the County of Fairfax, Virginia, Tom has overseen the market valuation of roughly 360,000 homes, condos, land parcels, and commercial properties worth $341 billion. With a staff of 107, he was responsible for the reconciliation, reporting, and quality control of the complex financial data for this program which generates two-thirds of a $5.5 billion general fund budget. In addition, Tom worked tirelessly to rebuild an aging workforce from the ground up and improve diversity across the entire division. He served in a similar capacity for the City of Fairfax from 2009-2019, implementing numerous business process and system improvements along the way.
Prior to entering public service, Tom oversaw all operations of a vibrant, family-owned real estate company in one of the most active markets in the U.S. Here he established and implemented business platforms whereby clients consistently experienced unmatched customer service. Further, Tom refined his skills in the financial aspects of small business including analysis, reporting, budgets, cash flow projection, payroll, and taxes.
Throughout his professional journey, Tom has always stressed the importance of training and mentoring employees, allowing them to exhibit their strengths, and encouraging them to reach high and become future leaders of the organization. It is this continuing cycle of taking a vested interest in the development of staff that allows businesses to grow and flourish.
Tom attended the University of Richmond, graduating from the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business in 1981. He holds the CMCA certification, and a Virginia real estate broker’s license.
